My Most Embarrassing Golf Story - by Dave Austad
Being in the golf business has its perks. One of them is playing in the Pro Am's. I had the opportunity to play in a LPGA Wednesday PRO Am with Hall of Famer Betsy King in the Twin Cities several years back. We were introduced to the 100 spectators before the first tee. When Betsy heard I was in the Golf Business she commented I would be a great asset to the team...little did she know. I had never been so nervous before or after, but I was determined to impress Betsy and the gallery with a monstrous 300 yard drive. I set up at the tee box, and swung as hard as I ever had, when I finished, I looked in horror jus as my "massive" drive teetered off the tee and fell harmlessly to the ground 3 inches away.
As I slithered back into
the
group hoping to disappear, Betsy helpfully commented, "Well, you
must spend a lot of time in the office."
I will now Betsy!
